QCAD User Interface Translations

To support contributors who are intending to help with translating the QCAD user interface, I’ve set up a translation server at:
translate.qcad.org

Once registered, as a translator, you can start translating individual texts of the QCAD user interface. Any contribution is most valued!

Please let me know if you would like to see other languages added to the list.

The English and the German translations are usually updated by me for every new release.

I’m also maintaining the French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese translations mainly based on machine translations but I’m happy for corrections and suggestions from native speakers.

Thanks!
Andrew

Hello
I just made ready for the first version of finnish translation. It might have bugs or ridiculous translations, but it can be chanced later on…
I hope it will be useful for others with my language

Best regards from a cold snowy country

Thanks a lot! Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Please let me know how I can refer to you in the Help > About > Credits dialog (e.g. full name or nick name).

You can just put my full name there.

“Please let me know how I can refer to you in the Help > About > Credits dialog (e.g. full name or nick name).”

OK, great, thanks!

Hi,
I would like to help translating QCAD to Croatian (Hrvatski) language. Could you add it to a list of languages.
Thanks, bye

Thanks for your offer to help!
I’ve added Croation (code hr) to the translation server at:
http://translate.qcad.org/hr/

It’s also possible to translate offline by checking out sources from github:

Please let me know if you need any help to get started!

Hello, I would like to help with Lithuanian translation. Can you add LT language?

archytektas: Thanks for your offer to help! I’ve added the appropriate translation sources at:
http://translate.qcad.org/lt/

Thanks in advance for any contribution you can make.

Can I make a few corrections to the French translation?
Albeit correct, a few sentences seem to be “Google-translated” --no offenses here, of course.
Do I simply need to get there (http://translate.qcad.org/fr/) ans start making corrections?

Absolutely, that would be greatly appreciated indeed.

Non taken. All tier 2 translations (Dutch, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish) are essentially automatic translations.

Yes, that’s the best way for us to have users submit corrections. But you can also just post individual errors here or pm them to me if you prefer.
In any case: thank you for any help you can offer in improving the French user interface quality.

Can you add Turkish translation tr. I would like to make translations.

Thanks for your interest in helping with translations.

I’ve added Turkish to our online translation tool Pootle:

Hi, I’ve spent some time on translating QCAD interface in Polish language. Translation is almost finished and I would like to help with QCAD/CAM. I have great experience with CAM software, so I believe I can handle that. Can you add Polish translation in pootle for me?
I always try to support open source software I use, but what about translations licensing of proprietary libraries? Are they GPL?
Is there any possibility to get software license for translating purposes? Working with trial version is really a pain in a**.

I’ve added Polish translation files and updated the Pootle database accordingly.

No, these translations are proprietary like the software itself. I will make you an offer for a payed translation of QCAD Professional and QCAD/CAM by private message.

Yes, I will send you information about this via private message as well.

Hello Andrew,

In my opinion, for more accurate translation, words should be given at list in a contest (whole sentence would be the best), because in some cases they may have more than one meaning (never mind that it can be a very fine line between synonyms).

Thank you.

Hello from Ukraine.
I teach my students to use QCAD 3.32.4 Community Edition for creating technological and construction drawings. While working with the software, I noticed that some Ukrainian interface terms are translated inaccurately and do not always correspond well to technical terminology.

I would like to contribute to improving the Ukrainian translation. However, the website translate.qcad.org seems to be unavailable at the moment and returns the message “Invalid SSL certificate (Error code 526)”.

Could you please advise on the best way to contribute to the Ukrainian translation, if this is still relevant?

You can view and adjust user interface translations using GitHub at (GitHub account required):

Note that the lastet release of QCAD comes with some user interface improvements:

Thank you for the clarification.
I still notice a number of inaccuracies and ambiguities in the Ukrainian UI translation, especially in technical terms such as color names. I will try to get familiar with the GitHub workflow and propose improvements via pull requests.

OK, many thanks for your work on this.

If you find something that is consistently wrong, you can also ask Copilot to fix it for you. Simply open an issue and assign it to Copilot. If your tokens are not enough, please let me know and I will run it in the QCAD repository.
