[solved] Trim several lines at once?

Debian Jessie + 3.12.5.0 (3.12.5).

Hi,

Is it possible to trim several lines at once?

Thank you. Renaud.

With the tool Modify > Trim you can choose a limiting entity and then trim multiple lines, arcs, .. to that limiting entity:

  • Modify > Trim
  • Click limiting entity
  • Click first entity to trim to limiting entity
  • Click second entity to trim to limiting entity

If you have something else in mind, please elaborate (what does your drawing look like, what are you trying to achieve, etc.).

Thank you.

I have 50 parallel lines that are too long.
I would like to click two or three times and not 53 to shorten them.
One for the limiting entity…
One for selecting all the lines with the selection tool for intersected entities.
And then the magic wand (baguette magique = 1 click)…

Hope it’s a little bit clearer…

No, there is currently no tool for that.

If you can attach a screenshot of the exact situation, that would be helpful to determine if there is a better way to achieve this. Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your help

Since your limiting entity is a line and horizontal, you can use Modify > Clip to Rectangle:

  • Select all
  • Modify > Clip to Rectangle
  • Draw a rectangle around the area which you want to keep, i.e. the lower part of your drawing

Alternatively, you can switch the tool mode to “Clear area” in the options tool bar and draw a rectangle around the top part to clear that space.

Yes!

Thank you, you save my day

Renaud.
