[solved] shortcuts not working on Ubuntu 22.04, problem of wayland support?

Hello,

I have been using QCAD 3.27.8 for a while on Ubuntu 20.

I updated to Ubuntu 22.04.1 today.
After the upgrade, QCAD started fine but I quickly noticed that shortcuts did not work (and didn’t test much more after noticing the issue)

Out of curiosity, and because I had recently had an issue with another software on another machine I had upgraded which was solved this way, I tried switching my session to xorg from the default wayland (used the option from the login screen “Ubuntu on xorg”).

Shortcuts started working again.

Could there be be some support missing for wayland?

Anyway, I’m not blocked as working with xorg is fine with me.

Still I posted here for several reasons:

  • because it may help others to know a workaround to this issue
  • because the issue may not be wayland related and I might as well be informed and switch back to Ubuntu’s default display server
  • because wayland is the future and xorg will go away sooner than later and this post may create awareness on development side of QCAD

Thanks for the great software, it works like a charm, it was easy to learn how to use and it works very well for my needs (architectural drawings).

Thanks for your report.

I cannot reproduce this problem here on Ubuntu 22.04 running Wayland with QCAD 3.27.8. All shortcuts seem to be working fine.

Which package did you install?
qcad-3.27.8-pro-linux-x86_64 or qcad-3.27.8-pro-linux-qt5.14-x86_64?
qcad-3.27.8-pro-linux-qt5.14-x86_64 has Wayland support.

Hello Andrew,

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the late feedback.
I expected to receive a notification upon response and only today did I manually check.

Anyway, I installed package qcad-3.27.8-trial-linux-x86_64.run.
The one available by clicking on the big icon on the download page.
I didn’t check the other packages below and totally overlooked there was one specifically with Wayland support.

I just tried package qcad-3.27.9-trial-linux-qt5.14-x86_64.tar.gz and, indeed, shortcuts work correctly on both wayland and xorg.

Sorry for the noise and kudos on the reactive support

Same problem here but 3 years later
