[Solved}Block Properties documentation

Where can I find an explanation of the Properties for things where the choices are “By Layer” or “By Block”? This seems even more confusing when dealing with Blocks which seem to have a mix of properties from the drawing and the block.

I’ve looked through the Help and the Introduction book for an explanation but didn’t find anything.
