In some future update can you add inch designation to the Text Label for Fraction? E.g. 43 1/8”

The “fractional” dimension format is defined as purely numeric (unitless).
The inch sign only appears if you explicitly add it as a suffix (e.g. label set to <>")
If you want inch marks, you’d need to either add " as a suffix in the dimension label, or switch to the Architectural format, which displays feet and inches with the appropriate symbols (e.g., 1'-3 1/2").

This is exactly what I’m asking for; an “application preference” to add this suffix to the linear dimension as opposed to editing each individual dimension with <>”.

Work around.
In a final state use the Selection Filter and select all ‘linear dimensions’.
All occurring types in a few steps.
Then change the Label property to ‘<>"’ for all selected.
A solution at QCAD side would be to store the Label option on the Dimensions Toolbar persistently between use.
This option is currently not stored persistent … On purpose.
A vast amount of user issues is related to not accounting for the well displayed tool options.
Forcing default options is then sometimes choosing between two evils.
