I am working on a wood structure garden shelter and I don’t find log end or wood grain in the hatching library of QCAD.
It is weird for CAD software. regards

Not every user requires wood grain hatching patterns.
Only a limited and most standard set is included in a standard installation.
It would never suits everyone: ‘Des goûts et des couleurs, on ne discute pas’ 
Similar to Library items … See reference under the header ‘Part Libraries’.
One can also include extra patterns from a vast collection found online.
A pattern file is merely a textual file defining one to more simultaneous custom line patterns.
Simply include a copy of the *.pat file under …QCAD\patterns\imperial and/or …QCAD\patterns\metric >> Restart QCAD.
What requires Admin rights on Windows when QCAD is installed under ‘Program Files’.
Alternatively you can exploit the ‘local data location’ path. (Detailed in the QCAD Changelog under 3.26.2)
Remind that some fancy patterns may induce lagging up to a point that they are not rendered at all (time-out).
Some type of online patterns can not be loaded/rendered: Unsupported EOL syntax (FS#2603).
Too bad because there are some to many very nice ones out there in that format.
‘Keep your hatch origin near the hatched area !!!’ and ensure that the scale is suited.
AR-CONC is for example a most standard pattern but not really stable far from the origin (By default (0.0, 0.0)).
User John Hyslop has posted several to many custom made patterns.
Including a few tools to create patterns yourself.
A small selection of his patterns are included in a standard installation.
If it must be a very custom and/or complicated design then I could help you further.
Attach a DXF with how it should look like, I have a state of the art tool to convert any repetitive design to a pattern.
