DWG Object "Band" also known as "Trace" missing

Hello Board.

I have a little problem. We have a lot of small dwg-drawings
that sould be managed in the future by using QCad.

Unfortunately the used dwg-object “Band”, also known as
“Trace” isn’t displayed in QCad. This object occurs a lot
in the drawings.

Is this object not supported by QCad? Do you have any
plans to support it or will it never be supported?

I added some drawings where the object is used to test
the problem.

It is a important information because if it will not be
supported we can’t buy QCad-Pro.

Thanks for your help and information in advance.

Hi blumi

I opened this with latest QCAD pro, is your object ‘Band’ shown here?

Hi Clive,

no, unfortunately not. I add a bmp-file where it is shown.

Not sure what you ‘Band or Trace’ is, what CAD program was used originally?

Hi Clive,

the “Bands” or “Traces” are the small filled rectangles
in the drawing. The dwg was originally created with
Autocad R14.

Hi blumi,

No, trace entities are not supported at this point. Support for traces might be added in the future. In any case, I’ve added a feature request at:

Clive: a trace entity represents a filled area with four corners. This was originally used to create thick lines with plotters.

Thanks Andrew, always something new to learn

Hi Andrew,
hi Clive,

thanks for your responses.

Trace entities, thats exactly what I meant.

It would be great if the trace entities could be supported.

Thanks anyway.

Quick update: basic support for trace entities has been added for the next release. This includes loading, saving and simply modifications. This does not include, however, a tool to create new trace entities from scratch.

Hi Andrew,

so far that sounds great. Maybe the creation of
new traces could be implemented in one of the
next releases after the upcomming release?

This would be great.

Thanks a lot.

Sincerely
