Is swapping bundled font safe?

OS: Every Arch Linux based distribution
Version: Arch Linux - qcad 3.32.6.0-1 (x86_64)

Arch’s qcad package has font files duplicating with Arch Linux - ttf-bitstream-vera 1.10-16 (any) and Arch Linux - ttf-dejavu 2.37+18+g9b5d1b2f-7 (any) . I want to replace them with symlinks at packaging level. Is it safe?

In particular for, ttf-dejavu is missing some *.ttf files.
